Pinecone Moonshine's Nic TVG follows up his remix appearance on XIZM009 with his own EP featuring his distinctive leftfield take on dnb, with a pinch of ambient interlude.
The open track is a brooding half-step piece lightened by a waltz like xylophone line. Following is Drum Funk version of AY's techno piece Skyloven. The piano line turns into a variety of natural sounding pads to compliment the choppy, broken beat work. The third piece is more free form with drums only coming in for the last minute. The last piece start with a sparse techno beat before transition into jazz rolls and a strange piano hook.
All four tracks are saturated with a lo-fi tape distortion providing a warm and live feeling.

With this first full-length album released by Mixgalaxy Records dark-ambient composer Stanislav Tretyakov, who works under an alias of Talemore introduces himself to the listeners of our label. As you may have already figured, you are about to be moved to the obscure side of ambient music. This record comprehends a rich spectre of those elements that formed the genre: dismal drones and dreary pads building up a strong atmosphere, some field recordings, some anthropogenic sound effects deliver deeper immersion. Tracks vary from Eastern flavored solemn compositions with chanting voices, woodwinds and ethnic percussion to mysterious futuristic soundscapes. Overall it is a very strong music set for those enjoying the genre or interested in dark side of atmospheric-driven music.

“Music from the film PRESENCE” is the score for an independent/cult science fiction film which has premiered in June 2009 at the Seattle True Independent Film Festival (STIFF) in Seattle, Washington, USA. The film is heavily influenced by Jean-Luc Godard’s Alphaville, Werner Herzog’s Wild Blue Yonder, and the films of David Lynch. It was shot in downtown Los Angeles, CA, mostly at night. It uses music heavily, as well as public domain and stock footage from the U.S. National Archives in Washington, D.C. to tell its story.
As a film, PRESENCE is at once visually beautiful yet stark and unsettling, pairing long, elegant shots of downtown Los Angeles with bleak, startling footage of disasters, both real and fictional. When composing for the movie, I knew I had to provide a score that would blend seamlessly with the visual elements of the film to enhance the sense of acute loss and impending dread experienced by the film’s protagonist. The movie is at some moments frightening and horrific yet at others tender and nostalgic, so I worked with director Bryan Kramer to emulate those emotional shifts while creating a score that was consistent as a whole.
For inspiration, I looked to electronic music pioneers Louis and Bebe Barron’s score for the 1956 film Forbidden Planet, which blurs the line between music and sound effects. By composing music that was simultaneously repetitive and unpredictable, I hoped to invoke the familiar yet chaotic sounds of claxons, sirens, and alarms.
I used a variety of instruments, including mellotron, Moog and other analog synthesizers and VST emulations (for example, NineCows Cynthia, which emulates the EMS Synthi A), organ drones, vibraphone, heavily delayed drums, and electric guitar, in an attempt to create a score that is like the film itself, both synthetic and organic, both otherworldly and jarringly real.

OTHER MAJOR INFLUENCES ON THE SCORE: DJ Shadow, Glenn Branca, Sonic Youth, Erik Satie, Ennio Morricone, Goblin

Written, performed & produced by Dave Merson-Hess in a closet in Richmond, Virginia, a bedroom in New York City,
and on a train traveling between the two. Special thanks to Jessica Roberts for arrangement assistance on “Onomatopoeia”

An infamous trail along the Hinterrhein in Graubünden. A canyon with cliffs carved by its torrents, falling threehundred meters into the depth. It seems as if the mountain is broken in two. Enormous floads of meltingwater, the consistent gnawing of the river created during centuries a natural spectacle of unique beauty. Mathon visited the place with Matu Hügli and Ronny Spiegel and turned the impressions into their second album Via Mala, which was released on Everest Records in 2009. Nine Remixers from all over europe musically revisited the unique place, which lead into this soundscape full of refreshing surprise.

About Mathon:
Since 2005 constant members are Thomas Augustiny, Roger Stucki und Pete Leuenberger. Synflict is the cooperation between Marco Cervellin and Olliver Wichmann.

The music features huge contrasts (consonance versus dissonance, attack versus decay) and pauses as a means to interrupt a continious flow and could be filed under electroacoustic, but also reaches out to drone and dark ambient territory on occasion. Apart from digital processing artifacts, feedback, beeps and blirps, they also incorporate natural sound sources to create a dense soundscape of sonic events.

Biography of Float:

Float is electronic music project created by Vladimir Mihajlovic from Belgrade, Serbia in 2008. He started learning about sound in year 2003 when he had first contact with sound editing softwares like ACID, Sound Forge and Fruity Loops. His first creations were made in year 2004. Vladimir was experimenting with various styles from 2004 to 2008 when he created his own kind of deep music made for enjoying and relaxation. Deep basslines, constantly shifting abstract sfx spiced with digitally modulated leads and glitches, melted into spacey pads and chilling dubby chords is now Float's recognizable sound. Float merges techno, trance, house, dub, ambient and minimalistic influences into unique electronic fusion. Anyhow, none of his tracks can be classified into one genre, it is always a interesting mixture of a few genres. Float is also a member of perspective artist organisation TesseracTstudio based in Serbia which gathers very talented musicians in domain of intelligent progressive trance music.

The most innovative netlabel in Germany for Darkwave, Gothic and Independent Music celebrates on the label founder Falk Merten's birthday their release-anniversary and distributes big presents to their fans - and that are 16 in number on this fiftieth publication.

All are on this Anniversary-Compilation "AFMUSIC #50″. Exactly one dozen of it are previously unreleased or recorded exclusively for this release. Beside many known afmusic-acts the sampler also presents an absolutely new band. Therefore, it is less a retrospective, than even more a look in the future of the label.

In March of this year, Chimney Fish went from being another excellent artist on the evergrowing Rack & Ruin roster, to a heavily downloaded (and listened to) artist in her own right. A review on a well known blog led to a few thousand new listeners in March alone, and so those curious new visitors will hopefully return to give a listen to these seven brand new Chimney Fish tracks.

Solo voice, overdubbed, and looped, are the trademarks that are the mainstay of all of the Chimney Fish releases to date, and "Tribal Lace" is no exception. The serene beauty and repetition of rhythms draw the listener in once again, in hypnotic fashion.

This is clever ambient music which utilises the voice over the instruments.

Kinhos! (aka PerlssDj) is a spanish sound technician & music lover who likes to experiment with sounds and images to create his particular universe. "Tai Chi" was a concept album about internal Chinese martial art "Kung Fu", genres covered about Field Recording and Ambient. But the track's truely story was between Kinhos! and his Kung Fu Master. One day when his Kung Fu Master came out and ask him for some free sessions for their Tai Chi classes because of problems with copyrighted music, then Kinhos! made this mix, his personal Tai Chi set. A dreamy and gentle work by Kinhos! (aka PerlssDj). Enjoy.

Starfrosch: Wacky Southern Current - Ageless Calm in Times of War

Wacky Southern Current is Marco Cervellin from Italy who, with a little help from his friend Gianni Garbo, recorded these songs at a farmer's country house and this calm of the surrounding rural scenery had a lasting effect on the songs. Ageless Calm in Times of War contains references to diverse music genres such as Kraut- and Progressive Rock, post-rock a la Tortoise, but also contemporary ambient sounds. The latter becomes most apparent in water colours which shows some parallels to Letna's or The Green Kingdom's work. In Ageless Calm in Times of War a melancholic lyricism is prevailing: Observation of the cloud's amorphous ever changing shapes, colourful spots washing out from a distance, the mulberry tree nearby and sparkling reflections of sunlight on a riverbank become personal metaphors for a specific moment.
