What have BMWs, forgotten radio hits, the color of gasoline on asphalt, auto-reverse walkmen, yellow lights, neon discotic advertising signs, the night, women, the ends of highways, the music department at the pawnbroker and the wait for the end of world in common?

These are all things that are liked by the french Waveband ACCIDENT and processed in their texts.

ACCIDENT are Maudoux Laurent and Jeremy Monteiro, cousins from Roanne - in the center of France, which early discovered their common love for music. Was it initially techno dance music, their passion for bands like the PIXIES or SONIC YOUTH soon began to grow. 1998 - the world was still in a trance fever - they founded their first band in Lyon. When the quartet then began to work with electronic instruments, the way to an Electro-Rock band with influences of the 80's wasn't that far away.

1997 Laurent and Jeremy left both Lyon and the band, but with an idea of a separate music project already in mind, and finally settled down in Marseilles. Influenced by the New Wave sound of bands like OMD, Tears For Fears or Visage, they began to realize their own idea of modern rock music.

The result is this 10-song, self-titled debut album which will be digitally released worldwide on 30 August 2010 via afmusic. At the same time the six-song EP "Vert Bleu Noir” will be released as free-download.

This is described by Thom Grathwol (TASRU) as, "more of a complimentary mini-album, outtakes, b-sides, and white-boy rap versions of tracks from El Capitan Del Sol."

To be fair, the description is very understated. The production, quality, depth, class and style, that you have come to love from previous TASRU releases is all here, and it does stand up very well in his illustrious catalogue.

As Thom suggested earlier, this album does feature many friends on the tracks, "FL Grateful Dead Poster", features DJ Martanyo, aka Martin Burgdoff, a college friend from Carthage College.

"Last night a discman saved my life", is the soundtrack to a short film, which was a Campusmoviefest winner from De Paul University. It features Dawg Tooth aka D Pwnz on guest vocals, who also features on the excellent "Bourgeouis Pigg".

In summary, this may be a collection of outtakes to Thom, but to many it will be a fascinating look into the other projects that Thom has worked on.

Starfrosch: The Stars Ovation - here in the stillness, despite everything

The title of the album is inspired by a passage from the novel Hunger, in which the protagonist is a homeless, out of work writer who has just hit rock bottom. His only possible hope is to sit down and hurriedly force himself to write something good enough to be published in the newspaper, which would allow him at least a few more days’ worth of money for food.

Although my situation has never come close to being that dire, and I don't plan on making any money writing music, I had similar feelings after beginning to write this album. I experienced a severe case of writer’s block, and found that the music was sounding very forced and uninspired as a result. Eventually, I concluded that this is a very horrible way to write music, so I ignored my keyboard entirely for several months. I ended up scrapping all of my old ideas, and with that pressure off my shoulders, the inspiration slowly returned.

The result was these nine songs, which I truly hope do not sound as pretentious as the preceding two paragraphs. As for the music itself, the album is more experimental than previous releases, with a mixture of airy piano-driven tracks and darker minor key ambiance. Though there aren't any actual lyrics, this is a very personal album, but its meaning is very open to interpretation.

Mr. Nice produces a debut release that successfully captures many moods. It's got the perfect blend of dubstep, melodramatic pop, old school bass, wobble at 133 bpm. The track has dubstep beats but experimented with ideas. If I Die starts also the collaboration with Max Milian, a seriously fresh new talent from Mexico, who participated for the vocals. A JUNO 106 has been used for the bass line, as weel as some soft synths from Ableton and Reason, and drums samples. The tracks (Kotedurone remix included) have been mastered at X-Pand Studio by Adrien Sauvaget.

Starfrosch: Vet.Engine - Into the abyss

It was only April of this year that we last heard from Vet.Engine, and yet it seems like the time has flown by without new material for the fans to get their teeth into.

Vet.Engine is a fascinating project with roots more firmly in early moog music, and the pioneers of that day, than in more modern day influences. That being said, there are 'newer' influences that often emerge throughout the tracks. There are dancier elements, that aren't straight out of 70s sci-fi.

The tracks here are open to interpretation, mainly free of lyrics. Although the beautiful "Mustard Fields" is of epic beauty proportions about regrettable decisions made in the past.

One soundbyte from Vet.Engine I'd like to mention is from the final track, "Dreamwards lift'd us back", which is about the concern for a sustainable future for humanity on the earth. A concern that has lived long in the memory - some things can be timeless, as Vet.Engine once again proves.

The first light of the day seen through a dirty old shaft in Kypseli. A morning breeze carrying the smell of humans during a bus ride from Kaniggos square to Patisia. The roar of a thousand motors heard from an office on the 12th floor, while the buildings in the city center, painted orange by the pollution-screened light of the evening sun, seem to be abandoned for decades. A glimpse of the sunset right before a big iron door closes behind you, as you descend into a gray basement in Ampelokipi.

Sister Overdrive is a neo-romanticist in Athens city. Each piece of Retroversion consists of minimalist melodies layered on top of each other, like dreams for the future, formed gradually from hopes and ambitions, and syncopated, rasping rhythms, which remind me of how the dreams of people are crushed by other people in a colorless urban background. And how they are made again.

Es hat ein ganzes Jahr bis zur fünften Frei House Disco Nacht gedauert, aber in der Nacht vom 6. auf den 7. August findet nun die Frei House Disco Nacht #5 »Night Tracks« statt. Von 22 Uhr bis 6 Uhr in der früh erwartet das Sendegebiet des Freien Radio Kassels (UKW 105,8 MHz, Kabel 97,8 MHz) wieder eine Disco-Party mit freier Musik sämtlicher Genres und Geschmäcker. Live im Mix ist DJ Robb von frei², dem Magazin für freie Musik im Freien Radio Kassel. Eine Woche später wiederholt der Partnersender Radio Freie Welle noch einmal die Disconacht.

Die Frei House Disco Nacht ist eine unregelmäßige Sendereihe von frei² über „freie elektronische Tanzmusik“. Das Programm wird zwar meist von House und Electro dominiert, macht aber auch Abstecher in verwandte oder ganz andere Genres. Das Ziel der „nordhessischen Netlabelnacht“ ist ein bunter, tanzbarer Mix. Nekro Morphosis was spewed forth from the waste of Washington in the year 2000 originally as a solo project. The first full lineup came together in late 2007 with Dr. Destructo on drums, Nightmare on bass & founding member Carnage on vocals & guitar. In late 2008/early 2009 the lineup curse had struck, Carnage continued to handle guitar & vocal duties, Guldrelokk was recruited on drums and Chad on bass. Now the once solo project has become one of the most aggressive, raw, evil and brutal black metal acts around. Nekro Morphosis combines constant brutality mixed with riffs that will bring any true metal head back to the glory days of extreme metal and of course all while injecting their own chaotic spin on things. After releasing the first full length, a split with fellow Washington band Drakul, and a limited live album, Nekro Morphosis has begun writing new material for their next full length to be released in early 2011. It seems that Nekro Morphosis is on a war path to complete annihilation of the world. In May of 2010 Nekro Morphosis parted ways with bassist Chad and recruited Shitstorm to take over bass duties. Soon the next full-length will be complete and then the venture across the land to spread nun fucking brutality to the rest of this fucking planet!
